There are 11 games on the NHL schedule on Sunday, including a 10:30 am start between two original six teams as the Chicago Blackhawks try to win the two-game set against the Detroit Red Wings. Chicago made it easy for Detroit on Friday when they won 4-1 thanks to two points from Patrick Kane.
It was Chicago's first win of the season, and while 2021 may be tough to get wins, you should consider her and the end of Kane's gun rest (3.5) every time they face the Red Wings.
Below are some of my favorite Sunday bets. If you're looking for more bets this season, check out the FTN Bet Tracker on FTNBets.com
New York Rangers +114 (PointsBet) at Pittsburgh Penguins -130 (DraftKings) – 6.5 points
These two teams scored seven goals on Friday when the Penguins came from behind and won 4-3. Pittsburgh has won three games in a row and played to the end in all five competitions. It has scored at least three goals in three consecutive games and has given up at least three goals in each game. This is a trend to follow as both teams rank in the top 10 scoring chances and high risk chances for and against every 60 minutes at 5 versus 5. This should be one of the fastest games on the schedule.
Forecast: 5-4, New York Rangers
Best bid: About 6.5
New York Islanders -128 (DraftKings) at New Jersey Devils +120 (PointsBet) – 5.5 points
This is a game I'd probably stay away from if MacKenzie Blackwood could play, but it was put on the NHL's COVID-19 log list before the first game between these two teams. The islanders and the defeated took care of New Jersey 4-1. New York has a 3-1 record at the beginning of 2021 and has played against the Underworld in all four games. Semyon Varlamov turned down 81 of the 82 shots he faced in three games (two shutouts). When Ilya Sorokin gets started, stay away from the grand total, but you can still factor in the islanders on the money line.
Selection: 3-2, New York Islanders
Best bid: Islanders
