I’m fearful that I’ll lose my residence as my gambling money owed are big

DEAR DEIDRE: I worry about losing my home as I couldn't keep the rent and my gambling debts are huge.

I'm 43, a single mother, with a beautiful daughter who is nine years old.

My team and I will safely work from home but, as always, we are here to help.

But I've struggled with gambling all of my adult life. It's gotten worse since I went on vacation last June.

In six months my debt went from £ 10,000 to £ 25,000. Now I've been released and I don't know where to turn.

When I was a kid, I was molested by my father and grandpa. Once when I tried to speak to my mother, she shut me up.

I've never been able to speak honestly to anyone. Without my daughter, I don't think I would get up.

DEIDRE SAYS: You've learned to bottle everything since your mom turned you off because of the painful abuse.

All addictions are there to replace missing emotions and your gambling likely has its roots in the horrific child abuse you have endured.

Contact NAPAC (napac.org.uk, 0808 801 0331) for help managing this pain.

Regarding the debt and housing issues, you should contact National Debtline (nationaldebtline.org, 0808 808 4000).

You can turn your life around and free yourself from the trauma of your past.
